Bermuda Chamber Choir 'Love's Pleasure and Sorrow' (secular choral works spanning five centuries/five countries, featuring Brahms' 'Liebeslieder Walzer', and The Treble Choir, Anglican Cathedral, Church Street, 7.30 p.m. Tickets: adults $15, students $10. Bermuda Hospitals Board (BHB) and Open Airways World Asthma Day Fair from 8.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. in the hospital lobby. Asthma and allergy education and free spacer devices will be provided to anyone suffering with asthma or other breathing difficulties.

Bermuda National Gallery/Ministry of Culture and Social Rehabilitation. Lunchtime lecture series: 'Contemporary Art Of The Caribbean: The Case for Jamaica' by Veerlee Poupeye, Ph.D. This lecture introduces and critiques key developments in Caribbean contemporary art since the 1980s, with a special emphasis on Jamaica. 12.30 p.m. to 1.30 p.m. The series is free to members and we ask a $5 donation from non-members.

The Bermuda Musical and Dramatic Society presents 'Intimate Apparel', a play by Lynn Nottage about Esther, a black seamstress in New York City at the turn of the 20th Century who dreams of opening a beauty parlour for black women and finding the right man. Can she fashion her dreams and make them come true? Showtime: Daylesford Theatre, 8 p.m. Tickets $25 can be purchased from Daylesford Theatre Box Office until May 7, and one hour before performances. Bermuda National Gallery PartnerRe Art Lecture Series. The Journey of Jamaican Art: Art, Cultural Institutions and Society, by Veerlee Poupeye, Ph.D. 5.30 p.m. reception for 6 p.m. lecture. This lecture introduces modern and contemporary Jamaican art, placed in its social and institutional context, and in comparison with concurrent and comparable developments elsewhere in the Caribbean and the African Diaspora.
