Five teams remain in hunt for junior girls basketball crown
The first few rounds of the Double Elimination Interschool Basketball tournament have produced a slew of surprises, as the form book appeared to have been thrown out the window.
In the Junior Girls Division five teams remain with a chance of winning the title, including favoured Mount Saint Agnes along with Saltus, Warwick Secondary, newcomers Whitney and Chaffee High School, marking their final appearance in the event.
Among the Junior Boys Division league champions Berkeley will look to add another trophy to their collection when they face the Saints in the winners' bracket. Other games have Warwick Secondary facing off against league runners-up Saltus and Northlands facing Warwick Academy in the losers' bracket.
Similarly, in the Senior Girls Berkeley will look to take charge against Saltus. The latter placed second to their Pembroke rivals in the league, losing their previous encounter by a mere four points.
Also in with a shot are Mount Saint Agnes and Northlands, who face each other for a second time. The Saints won the first game by six points.
Finally, the Senior Boys have surprise survivors Northlands ready to take on the seemingly unbeatable Saints, while Saltus have Berkeley in the other game among the winners' bracket.
However, still with faint hopes are Chaffee and Whitney, who both must win their way out of the losers' bracket.
