Taylor clocked 17 minutes, one second over the 2.6-mile course compared to 17:05 for Anderson. Damon Ming (17:10) rounded out the top three.
Meanwhile, Suella Matthews had her string of first-place finishes in the secondary girls category snapped by Tamika Williams, the defending champion, making her first appearance of the new season.
Williams' winning time was 9:48 with Heidi Madeiros second in 10:01, while Matthews (10:05) dropped all the way to third.
The primary sections saw Frazer Hunt (9:28) take the boys title ahead of Ki-Jah Butterfield (9:47) and Kemar Curtis (10:00) while, for the girls, Velvet Smith (10:05) triumphed yet again over the challenges of Sherrie Seymour (10:51) and Tionae Ebbin (10:54).
Marco Perinchief captured the junior men's category raced over 2.6 miles in 18:58.

SNOOKER SNO In the first week of inter-divisional play, no Second Division team was able to win.
Sandys Sports Club II remained in the lead in the First Division with a 5-0 whitewash over Old Colony Club II as Roger (Sticks) Henderson (34-break), Lawrence DeSilva, Greg Falzone, Tony DeSilva and Timmy Simons won for Sandys.
Steve Dunleavy made a 35-break to lead Warwick to a 4-1 win over Old Colony Club III. Dunleavy was joined by Reuben Burchall, Steve Bremar and Dennis Eve, but Freddie Smith beat Wally Tucker 66-40 to avert the shut-out.
Stephen Roberts, Glenn Flood, Graham Williams, Ed Gumbs and Sandy Sandhu led Queens I to a 5-0 thumping of Spanish Point.
Nationals were easy 4-1 winners over St. George's with wins from Paul Charleton, Tyler Moniz, Stephen Pantry and John Ray. William Peniston had a 20 break in beating Kyle Thompson 50-38 for the St. George's point.
Police lost a heart-breaker to Sandys Sports Club I when Gary Skinner beat Kevin Kehoe 51-50 in the fifth frame. Zane DeSilva and Timmy Pedro also won for Sandys and Gordon Harris and Andy Wright scored for Police.

RAA crept closer to the top with one point separating them from the leaders after a solid 6-1 defeat over Mariners. RAA also won the 1001.
St. George's II finally landed their first victory after tripping up Police East 5-2. St. George's also claimed the 1001.
Moonglow registered a narrow 4-3 victory over St. George's I and had even more to celebrate when they won the 1001.
BPSA suffered a surprise 5-2 home loss to Hamilton Parish, but were able to console themselves with the 1001.

CHESS CHS The two-week Active Chess Tournament was won by Richard Fairleigh, who finished undefeated with five points.
In second place was Richard Black who won four games but lost to Fairleigh.
Nick Faulks, David Shanks and Frank Ming were joint third.
Ming's victims included highly-ranked Faulks, whom he also defeated in the previous tournament.
Tonight's event is the Kottneur five-minute speed chess tournament, which always produces lots of fun and surprise results.
