New tattoo studio has European connection

The opening of Hamilton based Serenity Tattoo brings a European flavour to the Island with the introduction of Hungarian tattoo artist Muzsi Laszlo Tamas.

Mark Hall owner of Tattoo Serenity set up the new studio in April on the corner of Reid and Court Street with the aim of providing high quality custom made designs.

Mr. Hall formed a partnership with Mr. Tamas who has ten years experience as tattoo artist based in Hungary.

"Ninety percent of the tattoo industry is about art. All our work is custom made and drawn on your body (in draft form) before the tattoo is made so they are works of art," Mr. Hall said.

"Tamas is skilled in the placement of colouring, shading and an execution and that comes from the European experience."

He said the highly eclectic designs Mr. Tamas can produce will be unique to each client and the sky is the limit in terms of variety including tribal, fantasy, realist, portraiture, iconography, calligraphy, and oriental symbolism.

Cover ups and body painting services are also offered by Serenity Tattoo, a parlour as its name suggests, designed to welcome customers with a relaxed and comfortable setting.

Mr. Hall said there will be a demand for the services of Mr. Tamas because his creations cannot be replicated from the Internet or manufactured from other sources as his goal is to render one of a kind, original tattoos.

"Tattoos are popular because for some people its a way of life, while for some people its a matter of style but it is a way to make the body more beautiful."

Apart from being a tattoo artist Mr. Tamas is an accomplished porcelain painter, having trained at Herend Porcelain Manufactory Limited, one of the oldest porcelain factories of Hungary.

Mr. Hall said said the tattoo industry is a natural progression to give expression to the work of Mr. Tamas on display at the studio.
