a "substantial'' amount of suspected heroin was seized, Police said yesterday.

The drugs were found at a Sandys property, said Police spokesman Sgt. Roseanda Jones.

"Court appearances are expected at a later date,'' she added.

Sgt. Jones said two other people were also arrested following drugs' seizures.

PEMBROKE WOMAN IN INTENSIVE CARE AC A 33-year-old Pembroke cyclist is in intensive care with head injuries and a fractured arm after a road smash.

She was in "stable'' condition yesterday at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

Her bike collided with a cycle ridden by a 25-year-old Pembroke man, who suffered cuts and a dislocated arm.

His pillion passenger, a 28-year-old Warwick man, received minor cuts.

The accident occurred at about 3.30 p.m. on Wednesday at the junction of St.

John's Road and Cox's Drive.

Police are investigating the cause of the collision. Both bikes were badly damaged.

FOUR MEN ADMIT TRESPASSING CHARGE CTS Four men appeared at Magistrates' Court yesterday for trespassing on Ms Henrietta Harney's property in Main Road, Sandys.

Police arrested the men on September 27, said prosecutor Sgt. Kenrick James.

Before the court were Edwin Bashir, 27, of Sandys; Ernest Dowling, 33, Warwick; Tyrone Simons, 33, of Sandys; and Perry Simons, 17, of Warwick.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis gave them 12 months conditional discharges after they admitted trespassing charges.

Bashir was given a six months conditional discharge after pleading guilty to escaping from Police custody.

Sgt. James said Bashir had tried running away when Police arrested him.

AMERICAN DIRTIES HIS `CLEAN RECORD' CTS American Jonathan Marder lost his unblemished record when he arrived at Bermuda's Airport last Saturday.

He was found to be carrying just over a gram of cannabis resin, and 0.3 grams of cocaine, Sgt. Kenrick James, prosecuting, told Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Marder, 34, was fined a total of $600 after admitting two charges of possessing drugs.

Mr. Timothy Marshall, defending, said Marder had had a clean record.

"He has learned a painful lesson, and will be more diligent in future,'' he added.

NEW YORK MAN FINED FOR CANNABIS CTS New Yorker Jay Huddleston's itinerary on his first trip to Bermuda included an unexpected stop-off point -- Magistrates' Court.

Huddleston, 30, appeared before Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis yesterday to face a drugs charge.

He was fined $200 after pleading guilty to possessing 1.4 grams of cannabis.

Sgt. Kenrick James, prosecuting, said Customs officers found the drug on Huddleston when he arrived at the Airport last Saturday.

WARWICK WOMAN REPORTS BREAK-IN CRM A female Warwick resident reported a break-in in the Forest Hill area of Warwick early Monday morning.

She told Police that someone had entered her bedroom while she was sleeping and removed her handbag containing about $30 in cash, a Sony Sports Walkman and other personal items.

SOCIAL INQUIRY REPORT FOR SMITH'S MAN CTS A social inquiry report was ordered for a 18-year-old Smith's Parish man after he pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court on Tuesday to stealing a bike.

Prosecuting Sgt. Earl Kirby told the court that Elton DeMello, of Kilderry Lane concerned with two others stole a Yamaha cycle valued at $2,325.

"On April 18, DeMello and the other boys removed the bike, which was owned by John Sykes, from his Salt Kettle Lane home in Paget,'' Sgt. Kirby said.

"They pushed the bike to 6 Tribe Road and removed the front head light to start the ignition.

An off-duty Police officer spotted the boys and they ran off leaving the bike,'' he added.

After being questioned by Police, DeMello said he was just going to start the bike.

Magistrate the Wor. John Judge adjourned the case until the reading of the report on October 26.

DEVONSHIRE MEN RECEIVE KNIFE WOUNDS CRM Two Devonshire men received knife wounds on Monday night after fighting with each other on Palmetto Road.

A Police spokesman said the stabbing occurred just before midnight. "One of the men who was 33-years-old received knife wounds to his head and arms, and the other 31-year-old man received a deep gash to the back of his head,'' the spokesman said.

Both men required hospital treatment for their injuries, and the younger of the two was taken into Police custody as a result of the incident while inquiries continue.
