Chocolate campaign to raise funds

Sweet initiative: WiRe members Sarah Cooper, Zoe Kempe, Rachael Ashford, Angelika Davis and Fiona Brydon get ready to sell chocolate covered almonds to help raise funds for the Family Centre

Networking group Women in Reinsurance (WiRe) has launched a chocolate fundraising campaign to help families in need.

The 150-strong WiRe aims to sell 6,400 boxes of chocolate-coated almonds over the next month — with the proceeds going to charity the Family Centre.

Campaign coordinator Rachael Ashford, vice-president of specialty reinsurance at Allied World Assurance Co said WiRe members were “very enthusiastic” about the charity drive.

She added: “From its inception, a major goal for our organisation has been to support our community through charity work.”

The cash will be presented at the Family Centre’s Telethon on November 18, which marks the centre’s 25th anniversary.

Family Centre executive director Martha Dismont said: “We are so grateful to WiRe for spearheading this great and creative initiative.”
