Jabulani stages chilling mystery
Jabulani Repertory Company presents its 20th production tomorrow evening, when the mystery thriller, `I'll Be Back Before Midnight,' opens at the Hamilton Princess.
Describing the play by Canadian playwright Peter Colley as "a cross between Agatha Christie and Stephen King,'' producer Dusty Hind says "there are more frights and surprises in the first 15 minutes than in the whole of `Deathtrap'!'' Noting this production, which will be directed by Phillip Jones, is the seventh staged this year, Mr. Hind says that he wanted to do plays that are "a little different. That is why we chose `Driving Miss Daisy' which, incidentally, was sold out last weekend and received spontaneous standing ovations.'' Recalling the immense popularity of Jabulani's production of `Deathtrap', Mr. Hind says he and his team were looking for something that was just as scary and spine-tingling: "I think this fits the bill -- and without giving the plot away, I would say that one of the main things we have enjoyed are the many, many, incredible `special effects'. That's a challenge in a small theatre -- but they work! That's mainly thanks to Viv Williams (stage manager) and Richard Klesniks.'' `I'll Be Back Before Midnight' will open tomorrow, November 27 and run through November 29 and will be performed next week, December 4 through 6 with `Driving Miss Daisy' returning on December 11, 12 and 13.
SPINE-TINGLING -- The four-man cast of Jabulani Repertory Company "I'll Be Back Before Midnight,'' includes (L-R) Thomas Saunders, Carolyn Finch, Grace Cordeiro, and John Instone.
