Devonshire stock jumps

Shares of paint company Devonshire Industries were the biggest mover on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index last week. The stock rose 99 cents (32.9 per cent) after 500 were traded, to close at $4.

Ascendant Group, the parent company of Belco, saw its shares rise 20 cents (4.2 per cent) to close at $5, after 2,100 changed hands.

Butterfield Bank shares lost four cents in value (2.2 per cent) to close at $1.75 after 79,058 were traded, while the bank’s preference shares also lost ground, falling $2 (0.2 per cent) to close at $1,135, after 40 were exchanged.

Bermuda Aviation Services, which provides services to the LF Wade International Airport, but will not have its contract renewed at the end of March 2016, saw its shares drop 49 cents (15.8 per cent) to close at $2.81, after 500 were traded.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed the week down 17.59 points (1.45 per cent) at 1,207.95, while the BSX Insurance Index was up 7.58 points (0.48 per cent) at 1,587.49.
