Ascendant rises 4.2%

Shares of Ascendant Group, the parent company of electricity provider Belco, rose 4.2 per cent in Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) trading today.
Ascendant gained 20 cents to move off its 52-week low and advance to $5, as 2,100 of its shares changed hands.
More than 70,000 shares of Butterfield Bank traded, as the bank slipped two cents, or 1.1 per cent, to close on $1.75. Butterfield’s preference shares also fell $2 to $1,135, as 40 of them were exchanged.
The Royal Gazette/BSX Index fell 6.93 points, or 0.57 per cent, to close on 1,207.55.
A total of 73,098 shares traded, with a value of more than $194,000.
The BSX Insurance Index fell 10.94 points, or 0.69 per cent, to close on 1,579.91.
