Inquiry into chef’s death at sea

Authorities in Bermuda will take over an investigation into the death of a Chilean chef believed to have drowned in the North Atlantic.

Favio Ordenes, 26, had been working aboard the ‘Queen Mary 2’ when he went missing on August 16 when the ship was offshore near Labrador and Newfoundland.

It is believed that the 26-year-old fell overboard.

Halifax police questioned the crew and passengers during a short stay in the city.

Police in Bermuda will take over the investigation from Halifax officers because the ship is registered in Bermuda.
