home, Magistrates' Court heard this week.

Unemployed Anthony Frank Madeiros, 29, of Stadium Lane, admitted charges of prowling, attempted breaking and entering, unlawful entry and theft in properties in Paget and Warwick.

Prosecuting, Sgt. Kenrick James said that the first complaint was made by a security guard at the Surf Side Beach club, in Warwick, last week. Madeiros was seen looking into an apartment of two Canadian visitors. He ran away but the guard found him hiding behind a small hedge.

On Sunday, Madeiros was disturbed by Michael Carey who heard a noise outside his Salt Kettle Road home in Paget. He saw the defendant "fiddling'' with his door.

On the same day Madeiros was more successful, unlawfully entering a house in Middle Road, Paget, and stealing a wallet with items and cash totalling $150.

Again he was disturbed by the occupants.

He was arrested as a result of Police investigations which led them to where he had thrown the wallet.

"He said he had stolen as a result of being asked to leave the family home.

He used the money to buy food,'' said Sgt. James.

Duty counsel Miss Belinda Harvey said that she felt the circumstances required a social inquiry report.

Magistrate the Wor. John Judge agreed. "There seems to be an underlying problem here,'' he said.

The case was adjourned and Madeiros was bailed in the sum of $1,000.
