James completes cup win

walking off with a nine-stroke victory following a final round of 74 at the par-70 Belmont Golf Course.

After setting up for the final round with a spectacular three-under-par 67 on Thursday that gave him a three-stroke lead, James, playing in the 15-16 age group, struggled somewhat under a constant drizzle that severely hindered readings of the greens.

However, he was not alone, as all of his closest challengers also suffered under the conditions, and in the end James was able to extend his advantage to nine strokes by the end of the day.

Jarryd Dillas and Andrew Boyce both finished at 225, following rounds of 79 and 73 respectively, with the Boyce taking top honours in the 13-14 age group.

Chris Smith was next at 226, which earned him the 17 and older bracket, where O.J. Pitcher was second on 231.

Andrew Marshall won the 11-12 group with a three-round 241, followed by Jonathan James (275).

Blair Marshall won the 10 and under group -- played over 27 holes -- with 121, followed by Rawn Rabain Jr on 131.

In girls action, Stephanie Lewis' 250 was enough to garner her the top placing.

Net winners included Paul Murphy (205) in the 17 and older group, Nick Noviello (192) among the 15-16 year-olds, Charles Waters (196) in the 13-14 bracket, Nick Jones (203) for 11-12 boys, Cornel Bean Jr., (87) for 10 and under boys, and Emily Linn (241) in the girls category.
