Playing with Keane, Bergkamp and Zola - not a bad supply line!
It's only a few weeks until I play a charity game at the City of Manchester Stadium, in England, marking the 100th year of the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA).
The Match of a Century takes place on December 2 with players such as ex-England captain Alan Shearer and Italy international Gianfranco Zola confirmed to play.
England assistant coach Terry Venables will manage an England Legends XI against Sven Goran Eriksson's star studded Rest of the World XI squad, which includes me.
I missed a bundle of chances in my last Commercial League game for North Village Rams, so I hope I've got that out of my system. I don't want people attending the match thinking, 'Did he really play professional football?'
I'm probably a bit behind where I want to be in terms of fitness and sharpness and there's not long to go. It's come around quickly but I'm really looking forward to it.
The Rest of World XI squad is set to include the likes of Dennis Bergkamp and Roy Keane as well as Zola, who is captain, so I've got no excuses about the supply line!
I think I'm one of the younger players so I could be expected to play the majority of the match rather than the odd 20 minutes so I'd better make sure I'm reasonably fit.
Managing the World XI will be ex-England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson, who now manages my old team Manchester City, which I'm delighted about. Hopefully I'll get a chance to sit down with him and have a good football chat and listen to his opinions on the game.
I'll be in the UK for a few days and they've organised training sessions for us, as well as fundraising functions. It's for a great cause and I'm proud to be playing a small part.
The money raised from the match will be used to fund a new rehabilitation and physiotherapy unit for children at the University Children's Hospital in Manchester, so it's for a great cause and I'm proud to be part of it.
Returning to matters closer to home, I was surprised to hear about Kenny Thompson's resignation as interim coach of the national team. He has decided to walk away and hopefully the Bermuda Football Association will appoint a successor soon as we need to start our World Cup qualifying preparations. Training camps and friendly fixtures will need to be arranged.
In Bermuda we're fortunate because other than the US-based players, like John Barry Nusum and Khano Smith, everyone else is on the Island. In theory they could hold a training session tonight.
I imagine a lot of the players involved in any international friendly games would be Bermuda Hogges players and hopefully their experience playing at a higher level will stand them in good stead. I look forward to watching the developments regarding both the coaching appointment and the announcement of forthcoming friendly matches shortly.
