Opening batsman Allan Douglas was the scorer for Rangers with 81 from 54 balls, smashing five fours and six sixes while Charles Trott and Tre Manders added 46 and 32 respectively. Alistair Lynch was caught and bowled by Detroy Smith off the third ball.Douglas and Manders then added 40 for the second wicket before a 100-run stand between Douglas and Trott for the third wicket laid the foundation for the total. Macai Simmons took three for 31 and Smith two for 18 for the home team.Captain Onias Bascome led St George’s batting with 76 not out and 25 from brother Oronde Bascome who opened the innings. Onias hit four fours and eight sixes from 32 balls. St George’s were wobbling at 86 for five before Smith added 64 for the sixth wicket with Onias Bascome in just five overs, Smith scoring just two runs as Bascome dominated the partnership. Dion Stovell led the Rangers bowling with three for 21 off four overs. n Somerset Cricket Club enjoyed a ten-wicket win over Willow Cuts at Somerset yesterday, with opening pair Kamau Leverock and Chris Douglas scoring the required 120 runs for victory off just 7.3 overs. Leverock, already with two centuries under his belt this season, finished with 75 not out off just 28 balls, while Douglas scored 37 not out off 18 balls. Leverock hit nine fours and six sixes while Douglas had three fours and three sixes. “It amazes me that Kamau is not in the CPL [Caribbean Professional League] or doing something on the professional level,” coach Jeff Richardson said of Leverock before yesterday’s game. Leverock has played in England the last few years as he tries to break into the professional game. “He is so intelligent it’s unbelievable,” Richardson added. “There are some players who are playing in that league who shouldn’t be there ahead of him. I just hope he gets his opportunity before it’s too late.” Cuts used six bowlers in their attempt at a breakthrough, with Joseph Basden conceding 30 runs from his two overs and Kamal Bashir and Shamar Gomes going for 21 and 23 respectively in their one over each. Earlier, Shaquille Bean, batting at No 8, was top scorer for Cuts with 23 in their total of 119 all out in 19.5 overs. Chris Douglas led the Somerset bowling with three for 33. n Flatts Victoria beat the Bermuda Under-19 team by 46 runs in the First Division play-off semi-final match at Lord’s yesterday. Flatts scored 125 for nine and then dismissed the under-19s for 79 in 17.3 overs. Swadesh Gund was the high man for Flatts with 36, with 40 runs also coming in extras, including 23 wides. Jermel Proctor led the Bermuda team’s bowling with three for 13. The under-19s, who were missing several team members who have returned to school overseas, struggled in their run chase with only two batsmen reaching double figures. Jarry Richardson, their captain, scored 26 at the top of the innings while middle-order batsman Keith Whorms scored 15 not out. Koda Bascome took four for 13 to lead the Flatts bowling.
