Losing start for under-19s

On the charge: Ennis

Bermuda’s Under-19 national rugby team suffered a 24-0 defeat at the hands of USA South “A” in their first match in the NACRA U-19 Championships yesterday in Orlando, Florida.

The game started as a close affair with the USA South applying some early pressure but without breaking the deadlock as Bermuda held out well. With more possession of the ball Bermuda started to apply some pressure on the USA South defence with good runs by Cedric Ennis, Mikle Dill and Chakote Wainwright-Basden. The USA ended the half with a 7-0 lead.

Bermuda started the second half well with strong running and good offloads putting them on the front foot in the right areas of the USA South try-line. However, they couldn’t quite get over for the score as their opponents went on to increase their lead.

Some ill-discipline and missed tackles proved costly for Bermuda as the clinical USA South team took their opportunities with some well taken tries out wide and in tight to complete the victory.
