Flatts blown away by Stovell

Heave-ho: Baker launches the first ball of Durham’s first over for six at Lord’s

Dion Stovell blasted an unbeaten century as Southampton Rangers cruised into the finals of the T20 competition with a 71 run win over Flatts.

Stovell’s 102 came from just 65 balls, included 18 fours and one six, and ended the game as a contest before Flatts had a chance to bat.

Janeiro Tucker also added a quick-fire 31 as Rangers piled on the runs, finishing on 175 for four from their 20 overs.

The defending champions will face Bailey’s Bay in Saturday’s final and will fancy their chances of retaining the title they won less than a month ago.

Stovell also lent a hand with the ball as well, conceding just ten runs for his four overs as Rangers stifled Flatts, just as Cofield Robinson and Reginald Baker tried to make a game of it.

The pair put on 56 in 11 overs after the early loss of Kijuan Franks, and at 70 for one looked like they might at least get their side close. Robinson though was bowled for 34 off the final ball of Vernon Eve’s first over and the momentum was lost.

Eve and Hasan Durham then tied down the Flatts batsman, giving up 25 runs in the next five overs, as batsmen came and went on a regular basis. Durham finished with 4 for 28 from his four overs, Eve 1 for 18 from three, and Flatts limped to 104 for seven by the close.

Bay had an equally comfortable win, beating St David’s by six wickets with an over to spare.

St David’s scored 127 for six in their 20 overs, which Bay knocked off with Malachi Jones leading the charge with a half century as they reached 127 for four off the final ball of the penultimate over.
