Butterfield bounces back

Bank of Butterfield shares bounced back in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading today, advancing five cents to $1.65.

The 3.1 per cent increase came after 5,800 shares changed hands and followed Monday’s dip of more than 15 per cent on low volume.

Butterfield’s preference shares dropped one cent to $1,135 after 100 shares traded.

The only other mover was insurance firm BF&M, which closed one cent (0.1 per cent) up at $17.26 after 1,300 shares sold.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index climbed 22.47 points (1.92 per cent) to 1,193.31.

The BSX Insurance Index stood at 1,599.32, up 1.42 points (0.11 per cent), when the markets closed.
