Kevin Johnston, 29, of Spanish View Road, Smith's, admitted he had been sunbathing naked on Astwood Walk Beach in the late afternoon of August 9.

Johnston was arrested after complaints by a Police officer after complaints from other people on the beach.

Prosecutor Insp. Peter Duffy said: "The Police officer saw Johnston lying completely naked on a towel.

"As the officer approached Johnston quickly put his shorts on. He was arrested for indecent exposure.'' Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis said: "You know that we do not have nude beaches like they have in some places. You know it's against the law. I presume you were just being reckless.'' Johnston replied: "You could say reckless. It was reckless in a sense. It's like that when you go to the beach if you are a guy and there are a lot of girls on the beach.'' Mr. Francis ordered that a social inquiry and psychiatric reports be prepared before he passed sentence.
