Ferry damaged in dry dock
Government fast ferry Warbaby Fox was damaged when it fell from dry-dock in Dockyard.
One of the wheels on the marine cradle being used to lift the 127ft ferry collapsed as it was hauled out of the water in Dockyard on Monday.
As a result, the vessel slid off its docking blocks and crashed to the ground.
Warbaby Fox was being moved for anticipated maintenance work.
Marine and Ports director Francis Richardson attended the scene. The initial inspection found minimal damage.
According to a Government statement, damage was isolated to a couple of indentation marks and starboard [right] side windows. Damage to the marine cradle is still being assessed.
Warbaby Fox has been in use since 2006. She is one of the larger fast ferries, with a width of 30ft.
Until recently, she carried commuters between St. George's and Hamilton on the morning and evening routes.
Representatives from the company that built Warbaby Fox and the marine cradle used to dry-dock her will arrive on Island today to produce a damage report and survey the vessel and cradle.
"Our immediate focus and attention is to refloat the vessel," said a Government spokesperson.
