Estravit - artistic and savvy buyer for Bermuda's Marks & Spencer

When you walk into Bermuda's Marks & Spencer you get the sensation of breezy island pastels and subtle florals all chosen by the firm's relative new buyer, Kiona Estravit.

Ms Estravit has brought breaths of fresh air to the light and airy clothing selections just in time for Mother's Day and the beginning of summer.

"The Ladies wear offers a more contemporary style without alienating a traditional customer. We provide good basic styling for a good price with no fuss.

"We are for the woman who wants to look good, for a good price. Ours is the type of store where one can be fashionable without looking like a fashion victim. We are where classic and contemporary meet,'' she said.

Ms Estravit has been with Marks & Spencer for about a year and her main responsibilities are buying for the ladies, lingerie and children's sections.

As she began talking about her job it was evident that she is passionate about her work and those sparkling eyes and kind smile make it no secret.

She enjoys her work and says that the working environment at Marks & Spencer is the best with open, communication and very supportive staff.

"Retail and the fashion industry are an art form, fast moving and creative.

What I once enjoyed the most was the excitement of travel but when you are working the fun of travel fades.

"What really excites me is imagining an empty floor and what will look lovely and enticing. I love clothes and all that goes with them. Colour stories are important, something that catches your eye, that small detail that makes your pulse race a little faster.'' Popular summer colours for this year are blues, black and white, florals, lilac and lavender.

She believes that people should dress to make themselves look and feel good.

Sometimes the colour can be more important than the style. Most importantly she stressed that an item must be right for the wearer.

There are new shopping opportunities for the plus sizes which range from size 18 to 30.

"We have an extensive range of lingerie that serves a multitude of purposes.

We have gorgeous glamour sets that make a perfect intimate gift for your significant other. Marks & Spencer's has always enjoyed an excellent underwear reputation and we have new fun and functional things like the sheer straps bra and underwear.'' Some swim wear has already arrived but is disappearing quickly. New swim wear is arriving daily for the entire family.

Gift basket services are available and they deliver all over the Island.

The nursery department is new and many baby items are available.

Effective May 7 there will be "extra value areas" throughout the store. This means prices will be lowered on many products - just look for the signs! "I always want to grow and learn new things. One day I would like to work retail in an exciting place like New York City. For now, I love my job and I thrive on coming to work everyday,'' concluded the vibrant Ms Estravit.
