Helping children in Bermuda ? and the world
A women?s group in Bermuda is helping children on the Island and all over the world, a meeting on Monday heard. The Women of Vision group is the first branch outside of the US of the Christian relief and development organisation World Vision. Ruth Forster, the chapter?s secretary, told the meeting at First Baptist Church in Devonshire that the group supported the Sunshine League, a foster home on the outskirts of Hamilton.
She said members bought the children gifts at Christmas and took them out for trips.
?I think the joy on the children?s faces at the end of the evening is just so special,? she said.
Eugenia Dean, the branch?s partnership chairwoman, told of overseas projects in the Dominican Republic and Honduras. And Mary Lines, co-chairwoman of the group, invited people to take part in a cross-cultural study from June 15 to August 3.
The course takes place on Thursday evenings from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Tommy Moss Real Estate Office, Walker Arcade, Hamilton.
She said: ?It?s really a way to learn how impoverished people, women and children, all over the world live and what we can do to help them. It?s a life-changing event. I invite you all to join us.?
