Plans for Julian Hall's funeral finalised

Tomorrow will see some of the Island's most prominent politicians and public figures pay tribute to the life of Julian Hall at a funeral service expected to attract hundreds.

Premier Ewart Brown will lead the official tributes to Mr. Hall at tomorrow's celebration of life service, which will start at 10.30 a.m. at the New Testament Church of God Heritage Worship Centre on Union Street.

Close friends and former PLP colleagues, MPs Derrick Burgess, Michael Scott and former Premier Alex Scott will also speak.

UBP leader Kim Swan will deliver a tribute on behalf of the Opposition.

These official tributes will mark the second time this week that Parliamentarians have publicly mourned the passing of Mr. Hall, who died at age 59 last weekend following a long illness. In a special sitting of the House of Assembly on Wednesday, the lawyer and former politician was hailed as "a comet in all of its brilliance" who displayed "superior intellect, powerful oratory and unparalleled brilliance".

Bermuda Bar Association President Rod Attride-Stirling will also speak at tomorrow's service.

Fellow lawyer and one-time colleague Charles Richardson will then deliver a tribute, followed by friends Gary Jollymore, Donal Smith and Clarence Terceira.

Mr. Hall's three daughters will all commemorate their father's life during the service, with Nadia Hall reading a tribute, Liana Hall delivering the obituary and Claudia Hall singing.

Tomorrow's service is open to the public. It follows tonight's public viewing, also at the Heritage Worship Centre, where well-wishers can leave written or spoken tributes to Mr. Hall between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m.
