April 23, 2012Dear Sir,The next general election is looming and the question is, will the people of Bermuda rehire the current Progressive Labour Party administration back into power or will they seek new management from the One Bermuda Alliance? It is no secret that for the past eight years the current Government has overspent/lost revenue on a series of projects including Heritage Wharf, TCD, Bermuda Music Festival to name a few.We have also seen from the last few budgets, a reduction in spending in various Ministries, as well as funds given to several charities and more recently the redirection of pension funds for government workers. However the current Government continues to blame the cause of our public debt on “The Great Recession”, however this is absolute folly.Our public debt is because year after year the Progressive Labour Party has spent more than it makes. The revenue shortfall is not the fault of the “Global Recession” but indeed because the current Government continues to spend more than it earns. All this said, the One Bermuda Alliance needs to publicise their plan for the alternative management this Country desperately seeks, and the sooner the better. But the public needs to seriously ask themselves, do they want business as usual? Or do they want a change in governance in 2012?YOUNG VOTERPaget
