The race for promotion to the First Division is all but over after yesterday’s matches saw both leaders Ireland Rangers and second-placed Devonshire Colts win their games.

At Malabar, Ireland Rangers were comfortable two-goal winners over Prospect in a contest that saw the leaders struggle to gain any real initiative.

Visiting Prospect went ahead through a goal by Jerery Laws after 16 minutes only to see Rangers equalise after 66 minutes with Wendell Anderson converting.

Veteran Henry Santucci put the home side 2-1 up after 75 minutes before Jonathan Bean added a third a minute later.

Sean Brangman put the result out of reach for United with a fourth strike after 80 minutes before Andrew Jackson pulled one back for Prospect right at the end.

At the opposite end of the Island, visiting Devonshire Colts had to sweat it out before coming away with a one-goal triumph over the home side.

Young Ryan Nesbitt’s second-half strike proved to be the clincher at Wellington Oval for the second-placed visitors.

At Devonshire Rec., Gary Adams scored twice and Hobte Burrows and Russ Ford added goals as Wolves routed Parish.
