Dear Sir,
Do we want to qualify for 2011?
Logie (national coach Gus Logie) who are you kidding?
You say that you back Romaine as Bermuda`s captain when after the Scotland game (Intercontinental Cup) you said it's time for change. (what did you mean by that as we have yet to see change?)
Let me say that I have been watching Bermuda cricket my whole life and Romaine should have been sacked after the World Cup. It was an embarrassment to see Romaine smiling and joking around after Bermuda lost. Since he has been captain his form has been so bad that if he wasn't captain he might not even be in the team.
Since winning the Americas Championship in 2006, Bermuda has won 3 games in 2 years. What does that say about Romaine's captaincy? Romaine does not motivate his players (maybe you should ask a few) and he doesnt know the game for someone who has played his whole life. What`s the criteria to be captain of Bermuda?
a) Must work for the BCB?
b) Must have Bachelor's Degree?
Come on Logie, get it right! Mr.Romaine has to go if we are to realistically have a chance of qualifying.
We have the best and most qualified captain in Bermuda playing in your squad, so why is he not captain?
Lionel Cann has been endorsed by one of our greatest batsman and ex- captain of Bermuda Clay Smith and was seconded by one of the greatest captains of all time, Clive Lloyd of the West Indies when he was here for Cup Match.
I pay my taxes and we deserve to have the best people in the best positions. Mr.Cann captains our 2 biggest cricket games in Bermuda, Eastern Counties and Cup Match, with great success I might say. He's a fighter, a motivater, a born winner and a tactician - just what we need at this time.
It`s time for change as we move foward to qualify for the World Cup. We have lots of talent and, unlike most, I think we can qualify (for World Cup) again with the right leadership and selection.
Here is my team to take Bermuda back were we belong - the World Cup.
Lionel Cann (capt), Rodney Trott, Glenn Blakeney, Chris Douglas, Oliver Pitcher, Stephen Outerbridge, David Hemp, Jekon Edness, Dwayne Leverock, Delyone Borden, Kevin Hurdle, Irving Romaine, Stephen Kelly, George O'Brien Jr., Tamauri Tucker, Chris Foggo.
Lastly, I realise that politics are still evident in Bermuda cricket and the Board may not want Lionel due to personal reasons. If that is the case another option would be David Hemp.
With Hemp now being available until the qualifiers he would have ample time to get to know the players inside out.
However, Lionel has proven his worth in gold and is definitely my first choice. If anything I guarantee you the team will play with more heart, determination and get results, which we are overdue.
