Woman denies theft charge

A Hamilton Parish woman has denied stealing her grandmother’s debit card and using it to make multiple purchases.Aiesha Place, 23, allegedly used the card over four days, spending more than $190 at the Phoenix Store, two grocery stores, two restaurants and a gas station.Ms Place, of Winton Hill Lane, pleaded not guilty to one count of theft, six counts of acquiring property through deception and six counts of creating false documents by signing the receipts.All of the offences took place between October 12 and October 16, 2011.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner released the defendant on $2,000 bail with a like surety. He set a trial date of September 26.
