Blessings abound at Shekinah Worship Centre
Ordinarily a spirit filled worship service at Shekinah Worship Centre, Hamilton Parish is brought to a climax by a declaration from its pastor, Rev Dr Maria Seaman that ‘Blessings Abound! But Blessings were more bountiful than ever, in fact most bountiful for the dozen or more young people called to the altar on Sunday to receive financial assistance that would put them in good orbits upon return to their colleges and universities. The group we call the ‘Shekinah High Flyers’ are pictured with Pastor Seaman, herself a pace-setting orbiter.A widely travelled evangelist, author and publisher, Dr Seaman is noted for a preaching and teaching style that is partially attributed to her original vocation as a Biology and Science teacher, mostly at the Berkeley Institute for 19 years. Her two books are “The World of the Womb in God’s Plan for Man” and “Wombs II”.Upon her call to the ministry and pastorate in 1997, Pastor Seaman obtained her Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Biblical Studies from Andersonville Theological Seminary. She has travelled to and preached in Trinidad, South Africa, and many places within the United States, constantly seeking God, obeying his voice, spreading the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and ensuring that she always worshipped God “in spirit and in truth”.On Sunday, the eager young ‘high flyers’ freely testified before an overflow congregation, about their own Christian faith, and the fields they have already embarked upon, including law, medicine and business. Some, if not all, are graduates of baptismal rites performed in the south shore waters recently by their pastor.Cheques were presented to Eron Hill, who is entering his second year studying law at the University of Derby in England.Chelsea Seaman, will pursue her studies in psychology at the Bermuda College. Her sister Jena Maria Seaman is already at Mount Saint Vincent University in Canada, studying business and accountancy. They are daughters of Pastor Maria and husband Elder Kent Seaman. Their third and youngest is D’Hstiny.Brittnay Outerbridge is an English major at Dalhousie University. Also returning to Bermuda College as an Associate in Human Studies will be Kayla Hollis.Marco Santucci is pursing car mechanics in Britain; and Shawn Herman, music education at Acadia University, Canada.
