Counsellor Shannon Sambells will be coming to the Island next Saturday to help people do just that this weekend.

?Many people refer to me as a psychic, however, that is not a term that I use myself,? she said.

?My work is more that of a spiritual and intuitive counsellor because I work with people?s souls. It may seem to be a strange or different approach. But, my mandate is to attempt to understand why each soul is on the earth at this time and what that person is supposed to heal during their lifetime.?

Mrs. Sambells will be participating in the Ultimate Pyjama Party which is hosted by the Fairmont Southampton.

Her session, which is called ?The Medium Mind? will take place between 10.45 - 11.30 a.m. on October 28.

The Ultimate pyjama Party was founded in 1997 by businesswomen and good friends Helene Oseen and Nadja Piatka.

But although the company has been around for almost a decade many women had not heard about the ?ultimate girlie getaway?.

Beth Gadosky, product development manager, of Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, told that she initially heard about the parties as she read an article in the National Geographic Traveler Magazine in late 2004.

Asked what was the most fun thing she could think of about the events, Ms Gadosky said: ?The best thing about the event is that it really is a weekend that is all about you.

?This is not a boot camp! The ladies are welcome to make the weekend what they want, attend as little or as much as they like.

?We have planned a weekend full of fun events and seminars that have been designed to entertain and inspire and have paired them with fabulous menus and dining experiences.

?This is a weekend about kicking back, having fun, and feeling good about yourself. I?ve seen what participants look like leaving one of these weekends and it certainly is not the ?I need a vacation from my vacation,? type of getaway.

?They leave feeling relaxed, inspired and refreshed.?

Mrs. Sambells is also the author of ?To Touch the Hand of God,? a book on spiritual emergence and two meditation tapes.

?Within my sessions, we seek to discover the soul purpose and life challenges, which will help that individual to evolve so that their weaknesses may be transformed into strengths,? she explained.

Her memories of when she was young, were always of being intuitive.

?I was raised by my mother to be sensitive to others? needs and reactions,? she said.

?In 1982, I experienced a spiritual vision of Christ. This, obviously, was an unexpected experience.

?At that time, I was a young mother with two small children and I incorrectly interpreted this vision as a message that I was going to die ? that I was going to be forced to leave my children and home because of my impending demise.

?That didn?t happen, of course, but I did become very ill over the following four months and to regain my health and strength, I began to pray.?

And through a series of events, she said she discovered that she could receive information from a spiritual being through automatic writing.

?This wonderful spiritual friend uplifted my mind and my emotions and gradually taught me spiritual principles and truths,? said Mrs. Sambells. ?Those intimate lessons with that wonderful invisible teacher have focused my life by training me to help people from all over the world.?

Her chosen profession has surprised even herself, however.

?I must admit that I never imagined that I would work in this area of intuitive counselling,? she said. ?However, one day in 1985, I received a phone call from a stranger, asking me if I would ask my spirit teacher some questions on his behalf.

?Somewhat amazed, I concurred and so began this strange career of seeking for the truth about each person?s soul pathway.?

Mrs. Sambells said that she has been extremely fortunate because her clients typically come to her via word of mouth.

?Typically, my clients are individuals who are searching for a greater understanding of themselves and their emotional and spiritual issues,? she said.

?Psychologists and psychiatrists often refer their patients to me when they are blocked or stalled in their counselling sessions.

?What I do is to look at the past lives of that individual to discover what might have caused the emotional pain or issue, which is affecting the well-being and growth in the present lifetime.?

Of her own life, she said: ?My own pathway has been difficult, challenging and filled with many blessings and opportunities.

?I have come to believe that each of us picks our pathway and the challenges implicit within each lifetime. However, we each possess soul gifts and abilities by which we can overcome those challenges.

?In this way, we are able to navigate our lives and grow in new and different directions. I have learned, with time, to accept my pathway.?

When she sits down to work, she said: ?All my spiritual engines are ?on?. At times I am told things or feel things about the individual who is requesting information. I am also shown past lives or present complications and people through the use of my spiritual eye.

?It is a strange and interesting responsibility to gather information on behalf of someone else. I also believe that it is important to share everything that I am shown or told.

?Consequently, if there is something difficult or challenging, I will tell the individual in gentle ways. One always has the choice of how to speak spiritual truths.?
