Colosseum owner vows to re-open
The Colosseum has closed its retail business in the Emporium Building on Front Street after operating for 16 years.
Customers flocked to the store for a sale at the accessories store on Monday before the Colosseum closed its doors.
Colosseum owner Nino Lombardi said he is planning to re-open the business in two or three years at a new location.
Mr. Lombardi cited a reduction in traffic due to the ongoing A.S. Cooper construction project, the closure of Trimingham's and Smith's and dwindling tourists as reasons for the decision to temporarily close the business.
Mr. Lombardi said he plans to re-open the Colosseum when work has been completed on the Trimingham's building where the Bank of Bermuda are planning to build its new office and retail complex.
