Customs denies go-slow report
Customs has demanded a retraction and correction of a VSB story that said there was a go-slow at the Bermuda International Airport on Monday.
Customs said it did not want the public to be misled as a result of this ?extraordinary failure to meet the standards of fair and honest reporting? and wanted to correct the ?erroneous report?.
?A Senior Management Customs Official confirmed that passenger processing at the Bermuda International Airport was running expeditiously and that no ?go-slow? was in effect at the airport,? a Government release said on Monday.
On Monday night, VSB said it stood by its story which came from a usually reliable source.
VSB also said it would be busy trying to get a statement from airport officials about the alleged go-slow, which it said involved five aircraft landing after 11 a.m and unusually slow processing at the Customs Hall.
However, Airport General Manager Designate Aaron Adderley said on Tuesday, that to his knowledge, there was no disruption in service provided for by Customs that day.
?It was business as usual,? Mr. Adderley said.
