Scott set for London talks with European business leaders
The Premier and two of his cabinet ministers are off to London next week to address an estimated 180 business leaders from the United Kingdom and Europe.
Premier Alex Scott, Minister of Finance Paula Scott and Minister of Telecommunications and E-Commerce Michael Scott will join the Bermuda International Business Association in presenting The Bermuda Briefing on November 16.
It mirrors an earlier briefing to the US financial sector in New York last April that resulted in immediate business for Bermuda.
Aaron Adderley, BIBA?s marketing manager said: ?Our focus continues to be Bermuda?s hedge fund, securitization and trust expertise as we seek to diversify our economy. The arrival of well-known names such as HSBC, Citigroup and JPMorgan Chase has served to put the financial spotlight on Bermuda and we are keen to capitalise on this?.
Panellists at the briefing include representatives from PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ernst & Young, Bank of Bermuda, Butterfield Bank, Appleby, Conyers Dill & Pearman, Meridian Group of Companies, and R&H Trust Co. (Bermuda) and the Bermuda Monetary Authority.
The Premier, the Minister of Telecommunications and the Chairman of the Bermuda Monetary Authority will each speak at the plenary session, giving an overview of Bermuda, its E-business infrastructure and regulatory environment respectively. Finance Minister Paula Cox will be the keynote speaker at a luncheon hosted by BIBA.
?It is a busy, concentrated event designed to enlighten delegates as to new developments, build relationships and encourage lawyers, investment advisors and accounting firms to consider Bermuda as the jurisdiction of choice for their clients? business?, said BIBA CEO Deborah Middleton. ?All those involved have worked long hours to put together their presentations and prepare themselves to present Bermuda in the best possible light?.
Members of the media specialising in the hedge fund, trust and structured finance will also be given an opportunity to meet with both panellists and government leaders.
