Sunday’s Deep Bay Musical Festival promises a special ceremony in addition to music

A queen isn’t much fun without knights in shining armour.

That’s why the queen of the upcoming Deep Bay Musical Festival will be bestowing knighthoods on a few chosen individuals at the event on Sunday.

This is the second year for the event named for a beach on the North Shore in Pembroke.

It is organised by Atlantic Publishing House and Blue Hole Hill Productions

Once again, area resident Joan Dismont Robinson has been named queen of the festival.

“Tradition has it that the queen will read a series of concerns and promises and give out knighthoods,” said organiser Dale Butler.

Entertainers Elca Maranzana, Stan (Lord Necktie) Seymour and Veronica (Lolly) Darrell will be knighted by Queen Joan and they will also perform.

“All three have outstanding singing careers in Bermuda and Stan received the Queen’s Certificate and Badge of Honour in December 2013,”. said organiser Dale Butler.

The event starts with the grand entrance of the King, Denny Richardson, and Queen Joan Dismont.

Entertainment will include “Cool” Jade Minors, The Giant Steps Band which is just back from Cuba, The AFB Cha Cha International Dancers and a new band called Masterpiece led by Dexter Dillas.

Tickets are $50 from Music Box and include a light supper. Raffles and books will also be on sale.

The show will last about two hours and forty-five minutes.

The festival will be held on March 30 at 4pm at the Pembroke Community Club (PCC).

Part proceeds will go to The Bermuda Heritage Association in St George’s.
