BSX dips below 5,000

The Royal Gazette Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) fell back below the 5,000 mark yesterday, as Butterfield Bank shares dipped.

The Bank was the only issue to change value by the end of the day, as it lost 25 cents (0.4 percent) to close on $57.50, as 4,327 shares traded.

On a day of light trading, the only other companies to see activity were Bermuda Commercial Bank Ltd., which remained unchanged on $9, as 100 shares changed hands, and MediaHouse Ltd. (8% PFD), which also closed unchanged on $4.50 after 48 shares sold.

Volume was 4,475 shares traded and turnover was $250,252. The BSX Index closed down 13.32 points (0.27 percent) on 4,986.73.
