Local choirs mass for `Messiah'
Handel's `Messiah', as part of a worldwide event in which over 500 choirs and orchestras in 48 countries raise money for hospices.
This event, which is called the `Voices for Hospices', takes place across the globe at 7.30 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, locally it will take place in the Keep Yard at the Maritime Museum.
Agape House is the beneficiary of the local fundraiser. More than 150 singers from 34 local choirs and an orchestra drawn from a number of local sources and augmented from overseas will give their services. Graham Garton is conducting.
Tickets can be obtained from Opus One, members of all local Rotary Clubs, Agape House and on Friday and Saturday at the City Hall box office between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tickets are $10 general admission and $20 for a reserved seat.
Tickets can also be purchased at the gate.

*** The Bermuda Audubon Society has announced that two new honorary life members have been approved by its members.
Tommy Outerbridge was elected because of his outstanding contributions as founder and president of the Bluebird Society.
And Dennis Sherwin was elected for his major financial contributions to open space purchases and conservation projects.
Mr. Sherwin purchased the Warwick Pond and surrounding woodland as a nature reserve and this year funded the construction of a boardwalk through Paget Marsh.
