Bail granted in gun possession case

An 18 year-old Pembroke man was today granted $25,000 bail with one surety on a gun possession charge with .38 calibre ammunition.Dameko Dublin was arrested by police at 2.20am Saturday morning in Sandys. He was charged in Magistrates’ Court with possession of a Smith and Wesson firearm and five .38 unit cartridges without a licence, between an unknown date and November 5, 2011.The defendant told the court he was represented by lawyer Charles Richardson, who was not in court. The charges are indictable and will be dealt with in the Supreme Court before a judge and jury.Following an extensive bail hearing before Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner, Dublin was granted $25,000 bail with one surety in the same amount and ordered to report to the Hamilton Police Station daily. The case will be mentioned again in Magistrates’ Court on February 6.
