Texts and Facebook messages spread across the island yesterday naming the alleged killer of Perry Puckerin — however they are untrue because the individual was in Police custody.

According to Police the texts and messages named a man as the person who murdered Mr. Puckerin Sunday evening. But Police said it was impossible for the individual to be the murderer – because he was in custody at the time.

"Though done with the best of intentions, the unintended consequence of such actions (texts and Internet postings) could cause a wrongfully accused person to be injured or killed based on hearsay."
