Detectives have arrested three people in connection with the murder of 34-year-old Perry Puckerin Jr.

Mr. Puckerin, a father of two, was gunned down in front of customers at the Hamilton Parish Workman's Club around 9.30 p.m on Sunday, January 3.

Witnesses described hearing two to three shots. According to Mr. Puckerin's parents, he was shot at close range as the bar was shutting down for the night. Police believe he was deliberately targeted.

Giving an update on the investigation yesterday, Detective Chief Inspector Nicholas Pedro said: "A team of officers continues to actively pursue all leads, and three arrests have been made. Two persons have been bailed and one remains in Police custody at this time.

"A number of exhibits have been seized and analysis of these items is underway. The investigating team is encouraged with the help provided by witnesses to this incident, and others in the community, and some useful information has been received."

He went on to reveal fresh details about the events of that night, in an appeal for witnesses to come forward.

"Members of the public may recall that Sunday, January 3, was a particularly cold, wet and windy evening," he said. "Officers are anxious to speak with any member of the public that saw any person or incident that may have raised any suspicion or that were seen in the areas between Hamilton Parish Workman's (Crawl) Club, and Ducks Puddle, Hamilton Parish between 8.00 p.m. and 10.30 p.m that night.

"Of particular interest to the investigating team is a person or persons dressed in a hooded sweat top that were seen in the vicinity of the Hamilton Parish Club, Radnor Estate Road, My Lord's Bay, and Rocky Lane."

He said detectives would also like to speak with anyone who saw Mr. Puckerin that night.

He explained: "Mr. Puckerin attended the Mid Atlantic Boat Club on North Shore Road, Devonshire some time between 7 and 8.30 p.m. Officers are actively seeking persons that may have been at this club between these times and may have seen or spoken with Mr. Puckerin.

"Persons contacting the Serious Crime Unit can be assured of absolute confidentiality, and measures will be taken to protect their identity."

Mr. Puckerin was the fourth person to be gunned down in a month and the fifth since May last year.
