Wells facing late fitness test

Nahki Wells: Faces fitness test this morning.

Nahki Wells’ inclusion in Bradford City’s line-up for today’s match will be determined just before game time as he undergoes a fitness test on his injured ankle.

The Bantams are set to play Wolverhampton Wanderers at Coral Windows Stadium but last night the Bermudian striker didn’t know whether he would be picked, although he went back to training Thursday.

While the fitness test will be key to Bradford boss Phil Parkinson’s decision to bring his talisman back into the fold, he’s already said he won’t be he rushed back at any cost.

Wells took part in a session at City’s Apperley Bridge training ground yesterday but, as he has mentioned several times before, Parkinson said Wells would only be made available for selection when he is in the right shape to justify his place in the team.

“Nahki has trained on Thursday and we’ll have a look at him this week to see how he feels after getting back out on the training pitch,” said Parkinson.

“It will obviously be a boost to have Nahki back in contention but we will not rush him. We looked threatening again against Preston on Tuesday without him.

“We have to make sure we get him back out on the pitch only when he is feeling right and when he is ready.”

Wells has been sidelined for the last four matches with an ankle problem picked up against Shrewsbury Town last month but was seen being put through his paces on the pitch before City’s away match at Crawley Town last Saturday.

However, he wasn’t deemed fit enough to play a part in Tuesday’s draw at Preston this week..
