Grotto Bay hotel burglarised

Police attended two reported robberies at the Grotto Bay Beach Resort on Wednesday with one burglar stealing diving equipment.

Around 10.45 Wednesday morning, Police received a report of a burglary at Triangle Diving Bermuda Ltd., located at Grotto Bay. The complainant said between 6 p.m. Tuesday, December 15th and 8 a.m. Thursday, January 7th, a burglar broke into the dive shop and stole a wet suit, scuba masks and regulators.

Later that day, Police received a report at 8.40 p.m. of another burglary.

According to a Police report, a security officer for the premises saw a man go on to the property and into a maids closet. When the man came out holding a garbage bag, he was confronted by the security officer.

The burglar dropped the garbage bag and ran away, leaving the items behind.

Officers searched the area but didn't find the man. However, the suspect, a 41-year-old Hamilton Parish man, was arrested in the Harlem Heights Road, Hamilton Parish area on suspicion of burglary.

Meanwhile, a burglar broke into the Ettrick Animal Hospital in Warwick and stole a quantity of cash and medication. Police are investigating all three matters.
