PLP holds crime meet in Sandys The Progressive Labour Party expects a large crowd in Sandys Parish next Thursday for the next in its series of meetings to tackle crime and community concerns.

Sandys MP Mr. Eugene Cox said the PLP Violent Crime Review Committee wants "across-the-board'' input to help it find "solutions and options which we can integrate in our own local communities -- tools to take charge of our turf.'' The meeting starts 8 p.m. at St. James Church Hall. Panelists include crime committee chairman Ms Nelda Simons and the Sandys MPs.

WEEKLY ARRIVALS UP 16.4 PERCENT TOU Weekly arrivals up 16.4 percent Bermuda enjoyed a 16.4-percent increase in air arrivals last week, Government figures show.

Some 3,260 people flew in between January 9 and 15, 460 more than the 2,800 who came during the same period last year.

A total of 5,056 visitors have arrived during the year to date, 505 or 11.1 percent more than the 4,551 who came in the same weeks of 1994.

NO FISHING AT BLUE HOLE PARK FSH No fishing at Blue Hole Park Fishing is prohibited under all circumstances in the Blue Hole Park and Walsingham Marine Reserve, Agriculture and Fisheries director Mr. John Barnes has warned.

The off-limit areas at Blue Hole Park include the caves and the old Blue Grotto where the dolphins used to perform, Mr. Barnes said.

The Walsingham Marine Reserve consists of the shore and reef line from the Causeway in the north to the boundary adjacent to the old dolphin pool in the south.

AIDS FOUNDATION HIRES OFFICE HELP AID AIDS foundation hires office help Bermudians with questions about AIDS can now get information from the Allan Vincent Smith Foundation in person.

Ms Airlee Arton, who has been hired primarily as an office administrator, will be manning the charity's Chancery Lane headquarters between 10.30 a.m. and 1.30 p.m. every Monday to Friday.

Ms Arton will be able to provide written information on the disease and direct inquiries to the proper authorities.

She will also be undergoing specialised training in February.

MAN LOSES TEETH IN HELMET SMASH CRM Man loses teeth in helmet smash A 32-year-old Warwick man lost several teeth after another man hit him with a crash helmet around 6.30 p.m. Wednesday on Frog Lane outside the Devonshire Recreation Club.

The man was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Police are investigating.

In a second incident, around 10.30 p.m. the same night a 39-year-old Pembroke man, believed to have been the victim of a machete attack on Curving Avenue, walked into the Hamilton Police Station with a head wound. He stayed overnight at the hospital.

FROM LONDON TO BERMUDA FOR 349 POUNDS FLY From London to Bermuda for 349 Bermuda has been included in the latest round of "world offers'' from British Airways, the airline announced yesterday.

"We know that many people purchase tickets locally for friends or relatives travelling from the UK,'' local BA manager Mr. Philip Troake said.

The new fares start at 349 and apply to travel commencing in the UK between January 28 and April 6.

Tickets must be purchased by February 8.
