Despite having a player sent off for dissent after 70 minutes, 10-man Eagles battled on relentlessly and clinched all three points with a Sean Dill goal five minutes from time.

In a closely contested game, Rangers had their share of chances but Jermaine Saltus, Mike Mendes and Jonathan Bean all had difficulty in directing their efforts on the Eagles goal.

With both teams working hard to gain the upper hand and neither able to take complete control, a draw seemed to be the inevitable outcome -- until Dill came up with his late winner.

D.Cougars 1 H.Parish 0 Cougars took over sole possession of first place with this victory over a spirited Hamilton Parish side at Devonshire Rec.

Veteran striker Phillip Clarke got the clincher for Cougars after 60 minutes, finding the net after his side had been reduced to 10 players when a defender was sent off by referee Gregory Simons.

Parish, though, were always competitive and had enough chances in the first half to put the result out of reach of Cougars, but they were let down by poor finishing in the goal area.

Cougars now lead the standings by three points with three matches remaining.

St.George's 1 Social Club 1 Social Club dropped vital promotion points and needed a late goal to even earn a share of the spoils at Wellington Oval yesterday.

After a scoreless first half, St. George's finally broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute when Yuseff Pitt scored. The move began with a long ball out of defence by player-coach Neil Paynter for Gregg Foggo down the left flank. The cross into the middle was met by Quinton Francis whose shot was followed up by Pitt who scored with a low drive.

Social Club equalised through Michael Parsons in the 79th minute when he converted a cross from the left. Social Club had some good opportunities to take the lead after that with the St. George's 'keeper making a couple of key saves.

A spectacular save from Dyke Lawrence at the other end in the dying minutes denied St. George's victory when he parried Foggo's blast from close range.

The match between Paget and Prospect was not played at White Hill field, reportedly because Prospect did not have enough players available.

WOMEN'S LEAGUE Wolves Girls 8 Prospect 0 Waynette Thomas netted five times as Wolves Girls hammered Prospect at Bernard Park.

Both teams played the first half with 10 players, with Prospect having an 11th for the second half. But still they had no luck against the younger Wolves Girls who scored their first three goals in a nine minute period.

Thomas scored in the 30th and 36th minutes and Lynisha Lambert and Dawnette Smith in the 39th and 44th minutes.

Thomas completed her hat-trick three minutes into the second half and went on to score two more in the 77th and 79th minutes after Talitha Davis added the team's sixth after 68 minutes.

Royals 1 PHC 3 Waynesha Bean scored after three minutes and Stacy Babb in the 28th to get league leaders PHC off to a good start in their match against Royals at Bernard Park.

Tanya Semos missed a penalty for Royals, just minutes before Kimmisha Perinchief added the third PHC goal in the 49th minute. Cheyra Bell pulled one back for Royals after 82 minutes.
