The Bermuda Stock Exchange Index remained static yesterday after bank stocks fluctuated during a quiet day of trading.

Bank of Bermuda lost 50 cents to close at $43.25, but this was balanced out by Bank of Butterfield regaining some lost ground, up 50 cents to $31.50 and Bermuda Commercial Bank gaining 75 cents to close at $7.25. Bermuda Aviation Services also gained $1 to finish at $8.50.

The index closed up 0.03 points or 0 percent at 2,578.84 on a volume of 9,338 shares worth $177,923.50 and 26,440 bonds worth $26,045.60.
