Quiet week on local Stock Exchange

The Bermuda Stock Exchange moved only marginally last week, losing 0.12 percent or 3.328 points to end at 2,728.48 on Friday.

As usual, the banks represented much of the action during the week, with 62,625 shares changing hands, but by week's end, the Banks of Bermuda and Butterfield were trading for the same price as last Friday. The stocks closed at $55 and $31.50, respectively. The Bermuda Commercial bank lost a quarter during the week, and finished at $9.

BF&M Ltd., one of two other issues to change hands, remained unchanged at $9 on a volume of 1,800 shares. Belco Holdings Ltd. lost 45 cents and closed at $24.50.

Combined volume for the week was 69,524 shares worth $2.93 million.
