Students on top again
Stephenson golf tournament, an event staged each year by Saltus Grammar to honour their former Deputy Headmaster.
This year's winning foursome at Riddell's Bay on the weekend were Aaron Burrows, Ryan Davidge, Nick Dunkle and Charles Markey who shot a 19-under-par score to win by retrogression over another student team of Colin Brown, Matthew Durrant, Sean Outerbridge and Jennifer Spurling.
Third was an old boys' team of Wendell Hollis, Ricky Lines, Barry Brewer and Glenn Clinton.
The tournament's longest drive was won by Sheldon Chychurn while Joe Rodriguez won the closest-to-the-pin award, Stanley Lee the straightest drive and Douglas Tufts the low net prize.
A special award (gift vouchers to the Bermuda Golf Academy) went to the highest gross team of John Rego, Joe Rodriguez, Jose Cabral and Trevor Moniz.
The tournament was fully subscribed with 24 teams, including students, teachers, alumni and parents. All 18 holes were sponsored by local firms while the tournament itself was sponsored by the Freisenbruch-Meyer Group. Proceeds went to the Stephenson Scholarship Fund.
