Adult tap recital a first for United Dance Productions

United Dance Productions presents Dance Recital 98 which will be held at City Hall under the artistic direction of Suzette Harvey.

From July 1 through July 4 students age four to adults will take you on a journey through dance.

This year the company will feature an adult tap class with 18 adults, the first time there have been so many adults featured in one dance.

"We will also be featuring an all boys tap class ages seven to 12 and that is also being done for the first time. We have always mixed the boys and girls together but this time we had so many boys we had to have a separate class,'' Miss Harvey said.

She added that teachers and students from the junior company and company will be going off to the University of the Arts this summer where they will study with master teachers from around the world and get a chance to work with international choreographers along with being a part of Philidanco's workshop.

"I have also been invited to teach as one of the international teacher as an alumni of the university,'' Miss Harvey said.

Tickets for this weeks show are $20 and are available from 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Monday to Friday from the City Hall box office.

Miss Harvey also said for those that missed the company's production of `Chaos', it will be back by popular demand on August 13, 14 and 15.

*** Next week is Handicapped Awareness Week which has been organised in conjunction with the department of Cultural and Community affairs.

From July 5 to July 10 there will be several activities to celebrate the week.

July 6 is Margaret Carter Day. Shooting victim Sheila Kitchens and Bermuda's Lyndon Fubler will be the guest speakers. Ms Kitchens will speak from the steps of City Hall.

A public meeting will be held on July 9 at St. Paul's Centennial Hall where there will also be entertainment. Admission free.

*** The Masterwork Foundation is offering an extra-curricular art programme for children ages seven to 15 commencing in September.
