What's happening at the Career Expo
officially opening the Exhibition at 1 p.m.
Business/Industry Presentation Booths will be organised at CedarBridge within career clusters represented by the following areas: International Business & Visitor Industry, Media & Communications Health & Human Services Applied Technology These categories parallel the career clusters planned for the senior school curriculum to be introduced in 2002. Each cluster will have representative career presentations located in specific areas of the school and the public (students and parents) will be encouraged to move from one area to another as their interest dictates.
The Booths offer opportunities for hands on, interactive activity link jobs/careers to school subjects and college courses include educational and training requirements for jobs/careers indicate the variety and range of jobs that exist in the industry or employment sector display career pathways within a respective career area/industry include employees (e.g. recent graduates) to whom students can relate, in materials and physical presence include employee information regarding post-secondary institutions attended indicate future trends/employment needs for the industry indicating where the opportunities are! indicate the related industries where certain jobs/careers are found indicate salary range information include information about available education financing indicate part-time and summer employment opportunities where they exist offer giveaways, competitions, raffles, prizes, etc Seminars Throughout the day, a series of half hour seminars will be offered on such topics as: Imaging and presentation skills Financial planning and budgeting College search techniques and options Interviewing techniques Vying for Scholarships, Awards, loans etc. to finance post secondary education Information Interviews Scheduled throughout the day, there will be one-on-one interviews between students and business/industry people. These interviews will allow students to gain valuable information in informal discussions with individuals from the work place.
Multi-media Screening Room Throughout the day, various industry sectors will be able to screen promotional and educational information for public viewing.
Career Mini-Skits Throughout the day, career mini-skits will be staged by the participating companies and Government departments.
Best Booth Competition Attendees will be asked to judge the best booth presentation by ballot and a prize will be given to the business/industry winner at the end of the event.
Refreshments Refreshments will be sold to the public at various areas on the site.
Door Prizes Door prizes will be awarded periodically throughout the day to lucky attendees.
Entertainment Entertainers will perform at five different spots throughout the day, starting immediately after the official opening.
