Three men yesterday admitted taking part in a daylight machete attack on Good Friday last year.Sergio Woolridge Robinson, 22, D’Angelo Clarke, 22, and Gavaska Lodge Bascome, 18, all pleaded guilty to charges of maliciously wounding Joshua Place, and possessing a bladed article in a public place.Robinson and Clarke both wielded machetes in the April 6 attack, while Bascome used a knife.Mr Place was set upon by a group of young men at a family fun day at Southampton Rangers Club on South Shore Road, Southampton around 6pm.The victim suffered stab wounds to his arm and buttocks, cuts to his wrist and the back of his head and a fractured left arm.All three had previously pleaded not guilty to the more serious offence of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. They’d also denied committing the offences in an increased penalty zone.Prosecutor Cindy Clarke amended the charges in Supreme Court yesterday to remove the increased penalty zone element.The defendants all maintained their not guilty pleas to wounding with intent, but admitted wounding and possessing the bladed articles.Puisne Judge Charles-Etta Simmons sent the trio to jail while a social inquiry report is carried out.The men are expected to return to court in February for sentencing.
