St. David's await appeal decision
St. David's are sweating on the outcome of an appeal lodged against Bermuda Football Association's (BFA) decision to award BAA maximum points for last month's abandoned match between the two teams.
Referee Wendy Woodley cut the game short when a plastic bottle was thrown onto the BAA Field pitch with little more than five minutes of the match remaining, and with St. David's leading 4-0.
A BFA probe concluded the act was committed by a supporter "sympathetic" with St. David's and awarded BAA the points and a score of 3-0.
Angered by the decision, the First Division leaders launched an appeal and laid out their case for the points at a BFA hearing last week.
Islanders president Aaron Luggo said he was hopeful the BFA would perform a u-turn on their decision.
"We're still waiting for an official word from the BFA, we don't know yet," he said. "You can make assumptions but you never know what the outcome will be.
"Obviously we're hopeful but at the moment we don't know what will happen. We're just concentrating on our next game (against Prospect)."
BFA general secretary David Sabir said the appeals committee's decision may be announced today.
St. David's play Prospect at 7 p.m., while Young Men's Social Club take on MR Onions a 9 p.m. tonight.
Both matches will be held at Devonshire Rec.
