Men deny ‘heroin in radio’ charges
Two people were charged yesterday with a plot to import more than 150g of heroin inside a radio.Shakeda Davis, 28, of School Drive, Devonshire, and Winston Burgess, 48, of Middle Town Drive, Pembroke, were both charged in Magistrates’ Court with conspiring to import diamorphine between an unknown date and April 24.The total weight of the drugs involved was said to be 154.18g.Ms Davis was further charged with refusing to provide police with a sample of handwriting on April 27.Neither defendant was required to plea as the matter must be heard in the Supreme Court.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner released Mr Burgess on $40,000 bail with a like surety, but remanded Ms Davis into custody.The pair are expected to return to court later this month.
