Amendment suggestions
The Bermuda Classic Bike Club would like to see the following amendments to the Bill that is currently being tabled which would phase out two-stroke engines and replace them with four-stroke engines:
All two-strike autocycles, auxiliary cycles and motorcycles manufactured before December 31, 1984 `grand-fathered' into the law.
The testing of brakes, lights, sound and emissions to the standards of the date of manufacture, which TCD currently adheres to.
All two-stroke autocycle, auxiliary cycle and motorcycles can be ridden seven days a week, 365 days a year.
Any two-stroke manufactured before December 31, 1984 can be registered or licensed after January 1, 2005, without any penalty.
A licensing committee who will comprise of classic bike aficionados within the Bermuda Classic Bike Club will have input related to whether or not a two-stroke autocycle, auxiliary cycle or motorcycle was manufactured prior to December 31, 1984 or whether it is capable of being licensed or registered on Bermuda's roads.
The freedom to import any spare part to build and restore two-stroke autocycles, auxiliary cycles or motorcycles which were manufactured before December 31, 1984.
The freedom to import all two-stroke auxiliary cycles manufactured before December 31, 1984 which are not to be resold, but licenced and registered on Bermuda's roads.
All two-stroke autocycles, auxiliary cycles, motorcycles manufactured prior to December 31, 1984 will have a different license plate to distinguish them.
The Bermuda Classic Bike Club will assist TCD maintaining an annual register of members.
